Mettricks Guildhall - Haute Brew Review
Like every busting city, Southampton is littered with coffee chains. Theres about four Starbucks within about two minutes of each other on the highstreet, and it's pretty hard to find anywhere that's independent and totally local. Luckily for Sotonians, Mettricks has appeared to compete with the corporate big guns. I say appeared, the coffee house is growing at a rapid pace with four sites now scattered around Hampshire and quite frankly it's not hard to see why.
I'm a huge lover of coffee and good food and I had been hearing great things about Mettricks. I immediately wanted to find out for myself of course. I chose to visit the newest of the sites located at the heart of the city's new look guildhall square. They offer unique blends of coffee and a great selection of teas. Go for an aero filtered coffee if you're a fan of a strong blend. The coffee is filtered through a highly scientific and qwerky contraption that looks like it should be featured in a year seven science class (very amusing).
The food is fresh and produce is sourced locally, so when you're chowing down on their full english, you're helping the local butchers out too. I went at lunch time and decided to go for a sweet potato and quinoa superfood salad, least to say it was delicious. My lunch and coffee came to under a tenner, result! So if you're ever in and around Southampton and short of ideas as to where to grab a quick bite or a cup of caffeine head to a Mettricks.
